We warmly invite you to the presentation of the work period by artist Daniel Ventura, taking place on the weekend of 30 and 31 March at the StadsGalerij in Breda. The presentation is open to visitors between 13:00 and 17:00.

Daniel Ventura spent the month of March in a dedicated work period, the results of which will be shown during this open studio at the StadsGalerij. For this residency, Daniel travelled from Mexico City to Breda to research the local environment and architecture. Brick, structures, and the Dutch urban design emerged as key elements in his comparison and interpretation of two cities — Mexico City and Breda — that are in many ways incomparable. Through drawings, collages and installations, Daniel explores the universal values of architecture and questions the differences in how we interpret building and inhabiting. Prior to this work period, Daniel wrote an essay reflecting on his research as part of this project.

This residency is part of the project Horizons, a long-term initiative in which Daniel examines the multiple meanings of the horizon and how they synthesize with the landscape. This work period and presentation have been made possible with the support of the Municipality of Breda, the Mondriaan Fund, and FONCA (the national Mexican fund for art and culture).
