On Sunday, June 22 at 2:00 PM, during the exhibition Schimmenspel at the StadsGalerij, there will be a conversation with artist duo Iratxe Jaio and Klaas van Gorkum. Over the past two years, at the invitation of Witte Rook, they have researched the history and origin of the various copies of the famous painting The Surrender of Breda, originally painted by Diego Velázquez.

During this talk, the artists will discuss the three versions of this painting that hold a prominent place in Breda, how these works feature in the video installation Schimmenspel, as well as their working method and the research project.

Las Lanzas — The artist duo Iratxe Jaio and Klaas van Gorkum explore the significance of the copies of Diego Velázquez’s painting La rendición de Breda.
