Digital Explorers: Gabey Tjon a Tham

From 1 September to 31 October 2024, Gabey Tjon a Tham has her digital working period at Witte Rook. During the months September and October she will work on the virtual platform common.garden, a platform initiated by artist Constant Dullaart.

As an installation artist, Gabey Tjon a Tham explores the complex systems found both in nature and in our digital world, and how they influence each other through ever-evolving sequences. Her work manifests in audiovisual installations that balance between virtual and analogue realities, with a practice situated at the intersection of visual art, science and technology.

The working period allows her to further develop her ongoing research into digital nature. Within this, she sees the potential of working with ‘specific space’ in the digital domain, as a way to reflect on the physical world. She experiments with a digital ecosystem to create spaces of connection between human, natural and artificial actors.
