Michiel van de Weerthof creates new sound art work
In May, artist Michiel van de Weerthof is working on a new sound work for the Wilhelminapark in Breda. Under the working title *De Stommeltocht*, he is developing an audio walk that allows visitors to experience the park from the perspective of the ‘slow human’.
Drawing from his own experience with long COVID, Michiel investigates how the pace of society determines how we move through public space. Together with residents and users of the park, he is collecting stories, observations, and sounds that will culminate in a site-specific sound work.
Visitors will soon be able to experience the walk via their own phones and headphones. The sound walk is part of the long-running art project in the Wilhelminapark, in which artists explore new ways to make art (without a pedestal) part of the public space.
Curious about Michiel’s latest work? Listen here to the audio tour for the exhibition ‘Geel, meer dan Van Goghs lievelingskleur’, (Van Gogh Museum, Amsterdam).
