As a ‘Fly on the Wall’, Witte Rook is closely following the development of Living Media Art, a project initiated by LI-MA, a leading platform for media and digital art.

Over a period of eighteen months, Witte Rook will observe the creation of the Living Media Art Platform, an initiative designed to connect onsite and online audiences through a hybrid platform for knowledge sharing and the dynamic presentation of LI-MA’s archive. The project team, comprising studio mot and design studio RNDR, is collaboratively designing the platform with active input from the wider media art community— the future users of this innovative environment.

How can an institution like LI-MA engage with its audience online and offline, and how can media art, in all its diverse forms, be presented in a surprising and medium-specific way both digitally and physically?

Launched in January 2024 and running until mid-2025, the project aims to broaden access to and deepen understanding of digital and media art among a wider audience. Witte Rook’s role is to observe the co-creation process with the community through various focus group sessions, to investigate what happens behind the scenes and screens of LI-MA through interviews with the LI-MA team, and to document both expected and unforeseen developments that are part of large-scale projects. At the conclusion of the project in 2025, Witte Rook will publish its findings, offering insight into the layered ambitions and bold steps taken—thus giving voice to the narrative of LI-MA.
