49m² | Autumn with Lanxi Berkers

Lanxi Berkers is a visual artist who graduated from the St. Joost School of Art & Design in Breda in 2024. In her practice, she documents her daily life in detail as a way to pause and reflect on things that might otherwise pass by unnoticed. Lanxi visualises and articulates observations, questions, memories, and a sense of wonder stemming from her immediate surroundings. In a poetic and existential manner, she questions the relationship between humanity, the environment, and a sense of purpose.

During her residency, Lanxi will immerse herself in the park, hoping to rediscover herself within the natural and human-made elements that define this place. The 49m² space will act as an ‘altar’ for the hidden treasures she collects. In an era of haste and progress, this project calls for space for stillness: what does it mean to truly get to know a place — and to consciously return to it, time and time again?
