49m² | Summer with Echo Wang
49M² | Summer 2026 residency with artist echo wang
From 21 June to 20 September, we welcome the Taiwanese transdisciplinary artist Echo Wang. Echo works with drag, ritual, ecology, technology and uses installations to explore how land and digital systems preserve stories of migration and colonial history.
During this residency, Echo is conducting research into the Princess of the Eight Treasures, a Dutch goddess from Taiwanese folklore. An installation made of natural materials is taking shape on the site, and sweet potatoes are being grown; a crop that symbolises the colonial history between Europe and Taiwan. The project will conclude in September with a communal harvest and a ceremony around an earth oven.
The 49m² in Zaartpark is always open to visitors.
