Witte Rook is looking for a new colleague to work 12 hours a week

Witte Rook is a platform for research, experimentation and reflection in the visual arts. We work with artists on long-term projects, often in public spaces. We explore what art can mean in a specific location, collaborating with artists, local residents, partners and other stakeholders. We are interested in social issues, hybrid ways of working and the influence of heritage and digital culture on people and society. We also support artists in their development and collaborate extensively with writers and other organisations. We publish articles on artists’ creative processes, projects and the research that emerges from them.

To make all this possible, we are looking for a new colleague who enjoys organising, communicating and contributing ideas on content.

You will be part of a small team and will help with the preparation and implementation of projects. Your duties will include:

• You will act as a point of contact for the organisation and maintain contact with partners and other stakeholders;
• You will provide practical and substantive support to artists during projects;
• You will organise, plan and implement projects and programmes;
• You will help draft project plans, promotional texts and reports;
• You will take part in meetings and conferences;
• You will handle administrative tasks and other practical matters;
• You will be involved in web editing and communications.

We are looking for someone who can work independently, is approachable and is open to our substantive approach. Your knowledge and experience should include:

• a basic knowledge of Excel, Word and image editing;
• experience in web editing;
• good communication skills;
• experience with budgets and project planning;
• familiarity with the arts sector;
• a good command of Dutch and English.

We believe it is important that you have an affinity with the visual arts and are curious about the ways in which artists work and explore their craft. You don’t need to be able to do everything just yet. Above all, we are looking for someone who takes responsibility, works meticulously and is keen to develop further.

You’ll initially be offered a contract for 12 hours a week for one year, with the prospect of renewal and the possibility of increasing your hours (on a project basis). There is scope to grow within the organisation and, depending on your experience and development, to take on increasing responsibility. Ideally, you live in Brabant or the immediate vicinity of Breda. For remuneration, we follow the guidelines for the job and pay structure for visual arts institutions.
