The project 49m² is a long-term experimental inquiry into the position of art in public space.

Autumn period | 21 September 2026 to 20 December 2026

Lanxi Berkers is a visual artist who graduated from the St. Joost School of Art & Design in Breda in 2025. In her practice, she documents her daily life in minute detail as a way to pause and reflect on things that might otherwise pass unnoticed. Lanxi gives form and voice to the observations, questions, memories, and sense of wonder that arise from her immediate surroundings. Through a poetic and existential lens, she explores the relationship between the individual, the environment, and the search for meaning.

During her residency, Lanxi will immerse herself in the park, hoping to encounter a new side of herself amidst the natural and man-made elements that define the site. The 49m² space serves as an ‘altar’ for the hidden treasures she collects. In an era defined by haste and constant progress, this project creates space for stillness: what does it mean to truly get to know a place—and to consciously return to it, time and again?
