In the fall of 2024, artist Marloes Vreeswijk worked on the 49m² plot of land in the Zaartpark in Breda, where she was allowed to experiment freely. She used pigments to capture weather influences on canvas, but her works disappeared without a trace. This unexpected loss led her to an in-depth investigation of space and artistry. Instead of a physical reaction, Marloes opted for a philosophical approach: how and where can an artist take up space?

‘My creative work is very broad, but the core is always the same. It is a search for space. I have now investigated the core question in a completely different way than I initially wanted to do literally. It has become a philosophical investigation that is still ongoing. The questions have not yet been answered, and they do not need to be. The road to get there is the work.’ — From: ‘Een roze luchtkasteel’, written by Charlotte Fijen.
